Mystery Object

Does anyone know what this is?

My Mom was cleaning out some drawers the other day and came across this potential torture device. We have our theories about what it might be used for, but I'm curious if anyone knows for sure what it is?

    A can opener? This looks like a bigger version of the pocket/army one I have. (Called a P-38")

    Thirding the can opener vote--we have a similar one somewhere that was my grandmother's. Requires a little more elbow grease than the turn kind.

    Can opener, my in-laws have one and my father in law is swift with it - its impressive to see how easily he can open a can with it.
